Almost everybody will get Trump's Vegas speech wrong
Knowing exactly how long Trump talks on Wednesday is still not enough to settle this market correctly

Trump speaks at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon about tax cuts. Polymarket's speech length market makes 50 to 60 minutes the favorite at 23%. The 60 to 70 bracket is at 19%, which pays more than 5x. Volume across all eight brackets is $4,688.
The rule most people will miss is that if Trump lets somebody else speak before he finishes his own remarks, that time counts toward his total.
Roll Call's transcripts record how long each speaker talks, and the 2026 pattern is consistent:
- At Rome, Georgia, in February, there were 10 speakers. Trump spoke 56.0 minutes, and the event ran 68.9
- At Corpus Christi later that month, 10 speakers again, 56.2 against 59.2
- At Marietta, Georgia in July, seven speakers, 67.0 against 74.4
- At his April taxes and tips roundtable in Las Vegas, six other speakers, 32.5 against 44.5
- Across six Nevada appearances since 2018, his median speaking time is 56.5 minutes
Trump's own speaking median lands in the favorite's bracket. The number that resolves this market sits above it.
The other thing worth knowing is how badly this market type has behaved. Polymarket had 30-plus minutes as the favorite for the July primetime address, and Trump spoke for 25.7. Nine days later, Kalshi's ladder for the Correspondents' Dinner implied about 30 minutes, and every rung resolved yes because he spoke for 64.
The actual risk is speech format. The Review-Journal calls Wednesday a policy speech, but the White House withheld the details. Other sources are saying this is a rally.
A small roundtable like April gets you 32 minutes and makes 30 to 40 at 10 cents the trade instead. His two-hour rallies, for what it is worth, are both from 2019, so that's unlikely to happen.
On a typical rally, though, 60 to 70 would be the logical choice, especially when it pays 5.26x and 70 to 80 pays 5.5x.
So what's our take?
The safe version is to buy 40 to 50, 50 to 60, 60 to 70, and 70 to 80 together. That costs 93 cents and pays a dollar, so 7.5% in a day, which annualizes to about 2,700%. It may not be as lucrative as a 5x, but it also has a significantly higher probability of success compared to other options, which is ultimately the goal of trading.
