Will Newcastle United or Hull City win the Premier League match on Sep 19?

Hull City brings the league's best defense to St James' Park to test a struggling, short-handed Newcastle United squad

Will Newcastle United or Hull City win the Premier League match on Sep 19?

Hull City are back in the Premier League after nine years away, and they have started better than anyone expected them to. They sit third, unbeaten after four games, with 8 points from a possible 12, five goals scored and only two conceded. On Saturday they travel to St James' Park to play a Newcastle United side that has not won at home all season. Nonetheless, Newcastle to win trades at 59.5 cents on Polymarket, the draw at 22.5 cents, and Hull to win at 18.5 cents.

Newcastle’s form has been fragile at home, with two consecutive 2-2 results and a heavy away loss recently. So the team is still finding its footing under its new manager, Matthias Jaissle, who said that he expects none of his seven injured players back for this match.

That group includes captain center-back Dan Burn, physical midfielder Joelinton, wide attacker Anthony Elanga, midfielder Jacob Ramsey, young striker William Osula, midfielder Nico González, and goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen. The most noticeable absences are Burn, Joelinton, and Elanga, as they are all first-choice players.

Hull, by contrast, are built to deny and disrupt. They have a solid defensive record and a pragmatic approach that leans on staying compact and absorbing pressure. Despite their low ball possession (29.3%, the league’s lowest), Hull City’s deep starting positions, averaging 37.7 meters from their own goal, the league’s deepest, and their rapid transitions with 237 long passes, second in the league, create an ideal scenario to frustrate opponents who anticipate controlling the game. If Hull can force Newcastle into playing on the away side’s terms, they can keep it tight and threaten on the break.

When the facts point to both sides having plausible paths to victory, the smartest play is to bet on an outcome that covers most scenarios. And we think "No" on Newcastle at 40.5 is exactly it, as if Newcastle draws or loses, we capture a 146.91% return either way.
