Top 250 Polymarket trader survives five wipeouts to win big

The bettor's all-in strategy wiped him out repeatedly before an NFL wager changed everything.

Top 250 Polymarket trader survives five wipeouts to win big

A Polymarket bettor called Elaran1993 started with a simple but risky habit. He would bet almost all his money on single picks, then refill his account after every loss until one big win changed everything.

His first deposit came on July 19. One minute after putting in $20,000, he wagered $19,982 on the Colorado Rockies to beat the Cincinnati Reds. The Rockies lost. Eight days later, with only $28 left in his account, he deposited again. The pattern repeated twice more. He bet nearly everything on fewer than eight runs in a Brewers versus Giants game on July 29, then on the Colorado Rapids not to beat Los Angeles FC on August 19. Both bets lost, leaving him with $1,247 and then $122. Each time, he came back with a larger deposit. A fourth all-in pick, on fewer than four goals in Slavia Prague versus Lens on September 10, also lost.

Everything changed on September 20. He put $477,695 on the Dallas Cowboys to beat the Washington Commanders, keeping just $2,120 in cash. That single bet was larger than any deposit he had ever made. The Cowboys won, and four hours after the $723,780 payout, he withdrew $600,000, his first withdrawal ever. He took out another $200,000 the next night.

On September 24, he went all in twice more. He won on 10 or more runs in Diamondbacks versus Rockies and lost on Louisiana-Monroe against Florida Atlantic. Then came Sunday, when he turned $91,760 into $296,000 with two straight wins. He started by putting almost all his cash on the Cleveland Browns to beat the Carolina Panthers. The Browns won 21-18. That evening, he went all in again on the Denver Broncos to beat the Los Angeles Rams. Denver won 30-26.

Across nine picks where he risked more than 90% of his cash, four won and five lost. You could argue there is some skill because four of his last five bets won. But at the odds he received, about three wins would have been expected by chance alone. His overall record looks like a coin flip. Across 294 games, he came out ahead on 148 and behind on 146.

Interestingly, a reader who had mirrored Elaran1993 pick for pick, risking the same share of their own money, would have lost nearly everything on July 19, just one minute after he started. He is the perfect example of how high-risk betting can create huge gains, but only for those who survive the early losses and keep depositing. For most people, that road ends in ruin long before the lucky streak arrives.
