The 3x hiding in Romania's empty prime minister chair
The odds say Romania's crisis ends with an independent in the top chair and getting there early pays 200%

Romania has spent almost three months without a working government, and Polymarket's next Prime Minister of Romania market has landed on a name that carried barely 2% in the spring. Alexandru Nazare, the independent former finance minister, now trades at 33 cents, the outright favorite, ahead of PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu at 17 cents and everyone else in single digits.

Ilie Bolojan's government fell on May 5 in a no-confidence vote that drew 281 votes, and the two attempts to replace it have both died on the launchpad. Eugen Tomac walked away before his confidence vote, and Adrian Veștea's proposed cabinet never won one.
That is exactly the condition that produces an outsider. Every partisan candidate has been vetoed by somebody, so the negotiations have drifted toward the one profile nobody can block, a neutral technocrat with no party card. Nazare fits it precisely. He ran the finance ministry competently under Bolojan, he belongs to no party, and even Grindeanu, whose PSD would have to swallow the appointment, has publicly praised his competence. President Nicușor Dan has floated him as the head of a "truce government," the compromise that ends the standoff without handing any side a win.
Buying Nazare at 33 cents pays a full dollar when the next prime minister is confirmed, which is 3 times your money, a 200% return, on a market that resolves by December 31. The patient move is to wait until he is formally designated, but that is the move that destroys the return, because the moment his name goes to a vote the price gaps toward 70 cents and the 3x is gone. The position loses only if Bolojan's caretaker limps on into the autumn or the parties surprise everyone by agreeing on one of their own, and three months of failing to do that is the whole reason Nazare is where he is.
