New Polymarket whale wins $210K and hits top 500
In just four days, a new Polymarket whale built a big soccer win, cashed out, and disappeared
A new Polymarket account called Takon88 appeared on September 16 and immediately started moving serious money. Three minutes after opening, the first $1,000 arrived, and the next day brought another $200,000. Over four days, the account bet on soccer from Finland to Brazil, winning 8 of 11 matches before vanishing with its profits.
The three losses came against Villarreal at Málaga, the New York derby, and a Mexican league game that saw more goals than expected. But the wins were bigger and, perhaps, more dramatic.
On September 18, Takon88 bet $52,733 on fewer than four goals in Groningen against Zwolle, and Groningen won 3-0. The next day, $94,528 on Newcastle to beat Hull paid off when Newcastle won 2-1. And the biggest and boldest bet came on September 20, which our alert system flagged.
More than 10 hours before kickoff, Takon88 placed an order to bet up to $208,000 on the derby. $144,241 of it went through at 52 cents on the chance of Real Madrid failing to win, either by a draw or a defeat. The game was scoreless until Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen was sent off for giving away a penalty early in the second half. Atlético won 2-1, and that single wager made $127,776. By the end of the four days, the account was up $210,444 after accounting for fees.
Then, on September 21, Takon88 withdrew $210,000, almost exactly its profit. The $201,000 it put in still sits in the account, which means Takon88 could come back. The question is: when?
