This trader just bet $135,547 on Real Madrid to beat Roma tonight
A Polymarket whale with $7.6m in lifetime profit bet $135,547 on Real Madrid to beat Roma. Is the 49% market price too low?

On Wednesday morning, a Polymarket whale with more than $7.6 million in lifetime profit placed one of the largest single-match bets of the Champions League week.
The trader bought $135,547 worth of Real Madrid shares to beat Roma at $0.49 each. The position pays out $276,627 if Madrid win at the Stadio Olimpico.
A price of $0.49 means the market sees Madrid's chances of winning as roughly a coin flip. The question is whether a trader with that kind of track record has spotted something the market missed.
There's a decent case that 49% is too low for Madrid. Traditional bookmakers have priced Madrid at around 1.80 to 1.88, which implies something closer to 53%-56% before removing the margin. On that basis, the whale bought slightly below the wider market's price.
History also points one way, as Madrid have won the last four competitive meetings between the clubs, each by at least two goals and without conceding.
They opened this season's Champions League campaign with a 2-1 win over Inter, while Roma drew 1-1 with Fenerbahçe.
There's also a storyline element, as Madrid, now managed once again by José Mourinho, return to the city where he won the Conference League with Roma in 2022.
Does the whale's $135,547 bet offer real value?
Roma are still no soft touch, as Gian Piero Gasperini's side remain unbeaten so far in Serie A and have one of the toughest defenses in Italy.
The Stadio Olimpico is a hard place to visit on Champions League nights, with Roma winning eight of their past nine home games in the competition.
Madrid also face the match without Éder Militão and Rodrygo and have looked vulnerable away from home this season.
Predictbook's read is that the whale still has the better side of this trade, but only just. If the bookmakers are right that Madrid's true chance sits in the low to mid-50s, buying at $0.49 offers a small edge. The size of the position is more noteworthy than the price.
What the alert tells us
It's worth remembering what a whale alert does and does not tell you. A profitable wallet has a record of getting things right, but $7.6 million in lifetime profit can come from hundreds of positions, and a single match is still close to a coin toss.
The wallet joined Polymarket in October 2025 and has since traded over 11,300 markets, putting through around $1.2 billion in volume. That means there's a margin of roughly 0.6%, which indicates a high-volume trader grinding out small edges across thousands of markets.
The Madrid signal is that a serious trader thinks 49% is too low. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. UTC, so it's worth watching the price in the hours before the match. Madrid could move above $0.50 if more large wallets follow suit before kickoff.
