The media added 18M fake viewers to the FIFA World Cup final
The World Cup final drew a record US audience, and three different numbers are floating around, but only one of them resolves this market

Spain beat Argentina on July 19 in front of the largest television audience US soccer has ever produced, and Polymarket's World Cup Final viewership market is now fighting over how large that audience actually was. The 46m-50m bracket trades at 93.1 cents, the 58m+ bracket at 8.5 cents, and both sit "In Review" while UMA settles a dispute.

According to the rules, The market resolves on "the number of U.S. viewers (Persons 2+, average total viewers) Nielsen reports," and that figure is finalized. Fox averaged 38.937 million for the final, peaking at 51.7 million in the closing minutes, and Telemundo added 8.953 million on the Spanish-language side. Sum them and you get 47.89 million, which broadcaster Matthew Keys reported as the finalized Nielsen total for the two networks, which lands cleanly inside the 46 to 50 million bracket.
The confusion comes from two bigger numbers that made better headlines. Axios ran with a record 62.8 million, and Front Office Sports and others cited more than 66 million combined. Those figures are real, but they are total-reach and combined-platform counts that fold in streaming and out-of-home viewing, not the Persons 2+ average total viewers line the rules name. A market that asks for one specific Nielsen statistic does not resolve to a different, larger one just because the larger one trended.
Buying the 46m-50m bracket at 93.1 cents pays roughly 7% for holding the position that matches the resolution source to the resolution text. The dispute exists because a proposer floated the higher number, and a few commenters ran with the Axios figure under the market's secondary "consensus of credible reporting" clause, but the primary source is Nielsen's P2+ average, and that number is 47.89 million.
